Filtration: the pressure gauge will indicate the build up of dirt in the filter.
At the start of the filtration the "clean" reading slands approximately 80 kPa (12psi). Through the course of the filtration operation, the pressure in the filter will increase as it becomes dirtier. When the pressure reaches 130 kPa (20psi) a backwash operating is to be carried out.
Backwash:dirt passing the filter is cough in the sand bet and the dirt becomes saturated in the tank the pressure will increase. Once pressure the reaches approximately 130 kPa (20 psi) or 50% increase from the "clean" reading proceed on the backwash operation to send the dirt to waste.
Backwash Operation: turn off pump, rotate the valve handle to the BACKWASH position and turn pump on. Backwash until the waste water is clear. It is recommended that the backwash should be two minutes along.
Rinse: after backwashing a rinse operation is recommended before starting filtration operation to ensure that turbid water is returned to the pool.
To do this: stop the pump, rotate the valve handle to the rinse position, start the pump and allow it to rinse at least one minutes. then check the sight glass to ensure the water is clear.
